Last Saturday I got the royal treatment at the Beauty Bar at the W Salon. Specializing in beauty treats for girls on the go, Beauty Bar offers express services in 30 minutes or less. It was my first time there and I was VERY impressed – impressed with the space, the staff, and the level of service. I will definitely be back and have already been recommending it to everyone I know. Beauty Bar prides themselves in providing a quality service, at an affordable price, in a reasonable amount of time – being the over-scheduled, oftentimes crazed, work-at-home-mama that I am, that’s something I can get behind 100 percent. 😉
Here is the Express Services Menu:
My day started with a spray tan. It was my first time and I had no idea what to expect. Now, I’m from Jersey… I’m pretty sure we invented the tan…we’ve definitely perfected the fake-n-bake. But spray tan? Was I going to look orange? Like an oompa loompa? Like Magda from There’s Something About Mary or (heaven forbid) Snooki? I had no idea what I was doing. I was asking all sorts of ridiculous questions like: “Do I leave my bra on?” “How long does it take to dry?” “My bikini line has seen better days, is that ok?” “Was that TMI?”
Clueless as I may be in the way of the spray tan, I am always up for a beauty adventure, especially one that promises to give my pasty Rochester legs a Cancun-like glow. So, I stripped down to my undies, stepped onto the footpads and prepared to be sprayed.
Terri was wonderful and instantly put me at ease. She explained that there would be no orangey glow, just a natural-looking tan from a safe, organic product. She did warn me that the spray would feel a little cold. I may or may not have squeeled like a little girl a few times.
This is where it all went down:
This is me rocking a sexy shower cap…
Terri was right about everything and made me feel so comfortable throughout the process, which took about ten minutes. It dried almost instantly and I was able to put my clothes back on right away. I couldn’t get over how natural it looked.
That afternoon two different people asked me if I had been on vacation. My response: “Nope it’s Beauty Bar Spray Tan!” What a great way to give yourself a little winter pick me up. Maybe you can’t pick up and fly to the tropics, but you can look like you did. 😉 I think I’m hooked.
Next on my beauty agenda was a gel manicure (also with Terri). For me, gel is the only way to go. I’m pretty sure I’ve never made it more than 24 hours without screwing up a traditional manicure. I love that gels dry instantly and keep their shine and coverage for nearly two weeks. Terri did an impeccable job on my nails – as I write this, nearly a week later, I don’t have a chip in sight. None of the edges are lifting. It looks great. Love it!
Last, but certainly not least, was hair. Once I was tanned and manicured, it was time for a blow out. You know I love a good blow out and Tanya rocked it out.
In addition to being a full service salon, the W offers dry bar services. You can choose from 15 minute express curl, ponytail, braid, or bun application on clean dry hair for $20. I’m calling this afternoon to try and book something with Tanya for tomorrow. $20 Styling? I think I just found my new best friend…
Definitely check out Beauty Bar in the W Salon – I’m giving it two [gel-manicured] thumbs up. With express services that will having you looking and feeling your best without breaking the bank or taking up your whole afternoon, what’s not to love? You’ll never be too busy for beauty again!
Call and schedule an express service today (585) 203-1462 then report back and let me know how it goes. 🙂
PS- I’ll be visiting again in the spring to test drive Michelle’s “Spanx Facial” – if it does for my forehead what actual Spanx do for my ass, I’ll be a customer for life! 😉 Stay tuned. In the meantime, make sure you like Beauty Bar on Facebook.
