I think it’s safe to say that the first annual Bloggers Closet Yard Sale was a success. Nearly four hundred shoppers and vendors raised over three hundred dollars and collected thousands of dollars worth of clothing, shoes and accessories for VOA Working Wardrobe and Dress for Success Rochester.
Yelp‘s Breanna Banford was there to hand out reusable Yelp totes to eager shoppers who left with bags overflowing. Eyes were lit with a shopping frenzy the likes of which I’ve never seen as Rochesterians nabbed some serious bargains and met some of Rochester’s fashion bloggers, boutique owners, and artisans.
It truly was a celebration of so many things that I am passionate about: fashion, #shoplocal, and giving back.
I left the Brainery on Saturday with a full heart. I was humbled by your kind words, your generosity and your support. There is no way I could have pulled this off without you (and some serious hashtagging and social media love.)
To our bloggers and social media enthusiasts who opened up their closets in the name of a good cause: Jai from Mami’s Time Out, Ariane from Seven Days of Sassy, Barbara Ellen from Barbara Ellen Shops Local, Morgan from The Treasure Trove, and Allyson from Frugal Fashionistas. Along with Christina Patterson, Vanessa Cheeks, Lauren Starsky and Sarah Galton.
To the Brainery for letting us use their fabulous space and assisting with set up, break down, and traffic flow during the sale.
To our artisans and boutique owners: Emerson & Oliver, Artwark, Interstellar Love Craft, Christine and Co Design, Big City Bags and Jewelry, LulaRoe by E & K New York, Peppermint, Fahsye, and Treasure Trove Vintage.
To Scratch Bakeshop for getting up at 5am to be at the Public Market for fresh, LOCAL fruit to make us the most delicious and adorable little pies and Sweetly Spun Gourmet Cotton Candy for bringing Chai, Salted Caramel and S’MORE cotton candy that was absolutely to-die-for!
To Yelp for providing 200 shoppers with reusable shopping bags.
To Dolce Photography, Believe Bands, Christine and Co Design, TempleSox, JEM Design, Jamberry Nails, Rochester Brainery, By Cee Cee, BeBe Mills, Peppermint, LuLaRoe, Melissa Pheterson Writing Services, and Premier Designs for donating fabulous prizes for our raffle that raised over $150 for our charities.
And lastly to Gail Berkes, Working Wardrobe Program Manager, Megan Alchowiak, Director of Marketing and Media for VOA Upstate New York and Alyssa Whitfield of Dress for Success Rochester for giving up their Saturday to raise awareness for their organizations and make a positive impact on those in need in our local community.
On Saturday we all came together to make a difference and we did.
Get ready to do it again next year! Bloggers Closet Yard Sale is here to stay!
