This holiday season, I am teaming up with Rochester A-List and Barbara Ellen Shops Local (#BESL) to help you #Roc the Holiday with #ShopLocalRoc.We’ve created the Shop Local Rochester campaign to increase and encourage LOCAL shopping this holiday season. This collaborative effort will include a gift guide, contests, and editorial walking you through the doors of local businesses to highlight local gifts, boutiques, and artisans. We want you to love shopping local as much as we do. We want you to look good and feel good. We want you to #Roc the Holiday and make a profound impact in your community with the power of your dollar.
Because all the cool kids are doing it. [Kidding! – It’s true, but not a valid argument **wink**]
#ShopLocalRoc because of the economic impact in our community when we support local businesses. It’s called the multiplier effect.
Because it’s more sustainable. Shopping local sustains not only our local economy and community, but also the environment.
Because it’s more convenient, more affordable, more unique and better quality than mass market shopping options. Think: no shipping, handmade, less markup.
Because you’re going to look good (shopping at some of the best boutiques around) and feel good (knowing you are supporting your community).
What can you do?
Shop local. [duh!]

Let’s put our money where our mouth is, but more importantly, let’s put our money where our heart is: in this special little city we call home and with the wonderful people we call neighbors.
