Anyone else feeling and looking extra pale lately? Ughhh… same here! Damn these cold, sunless, fall months! Having that beautiful, golden glow makes you not only look better, but feel better too! Who says just because it’s not summer anymore, we have to lose our tans?! I’ve come up with the hottest products to keep you looking bronzed and glowing ALL year long- the safe and healthy way! (No tanning beds! Don’t do it ladies!)
Get A Professional Spray Tan
Some spray tan companies, such as South Seas, use natural and organic ingredients, which are DHA-free, paraben-free, alcohol-free and unscented. You can pretty much go to any local tanning salon or spa and they offer spray tanning there. Some have a certified spray technician that will custom apply it for you, while others have an automated machine, such as Versaspa. You can pick your own color ranging from light, medium, dark depending on the level tan you wish to achieve. Always make sure to exfoliate really well before getting a tan (or applying it yourself). This helps to get rid of dry, dead skin cells leaving your skin with a smooth surface for the tanning product to adhere to.
Apply An Instant Self Tanner
One of my all time favorite self tanners is by Bare Minerals called Faux Tan. I remember we sold this at the salon/spa I used to work at in Albany and all of would apply it every Friday, which then became “Faux Tan Friday’s” once a week! It goes on really dark allowing you to see where you are blending it in so you don’t miss any patches or end up streaking. I always apply with a pair of latex gloves, but if you don’t happen to have any on you, just make sure you wash your hands really well after you are finished applying! My favorite thing about this product is that it doesn’t have that nasty smell like most self tanners do! My boyfriend would seriously make me sleep in the other room when I would have any other self tanner on because the scent is always so bad. But not with Faux Tan! You get a natural looking glow which usually lasts from 5-7 days.
Apply a Gradual Self Tanner
If you’re going for a more simple and subtle tan, then Jergens Natural Glow Daily Moisturizer is the best product out there. It comes in Fair/Medium, Medium and Medium/Tan depending on your skin tone and is loaded with lots of Vitamin E! Not only does it moisture but it gradually creates natural looking color after several uses as well. You apply it just like you would a normal body lotion. You only really need to use it once a day, but I like to apply it after the shower and then again at night before bed.
Wear A Powder Bronzer
In my opinion, Laura Geller by far has the best bronzer out there! Its called Bronze N Brighten and comes as a baked powder in the colors Light or Medium depending on your skin tone. They are so beautiful and natural looking! Not only is it paraben-free, but it contains white tea extracts and has anti-aging and antioxidant minerals!
Use An Illuminator
Urban Decay makes a gorgeous new illuminating baked shimmer that comes in two different shades: Aura and Luminous. I’ve honestly never seen anything like it! Just a few small swipes of this on a large powder brush and apply lightly to the face and you get the most radiant, luminous and shimmering glow you’ve ever seen! Sometimes I like to use it as an eye shadow or even a highlighter just above my lids (below my brows). Seriously, this illuminator is so versatile and worth every single penny!
Here’s to staying bronzed and beautiful goddesses ALL year round ladies!
